About Geography

Geography as a subject is devoted to the study of the earth, the distribution and location of its physical and cultural features, inter-relationship of these features, human lives and various phenomenon of Earth. This discipline seeks to examine the relationship and interaction between people and the environment. A degree in geography trains and educates an individual to gain success in their careers in the various fields ranging from cartography, business, administration, tourism and planning

A. FUNDAMENTAL OF COMPUTER
o Introduction of computer, Processing of data, Number system
o Microsoft word, Microsoft excel, Power Point,
o Basic concepts of database
B. GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM
o Definition and evolution of GIS: Components of GIS; Geographical data: types and characteristics; Earth’s shape, coordinate systems and datum
o Digital representation of geographical data: data structure, spatial data model, database management systems, raster and vector models.
o Digital Elevation Model (DEM): Characteristics and applications; Remote sensing and GIS integration;
o GIS Data Analysis: Input; Geo-Referencing; Editing, Output and Query; Overlays by QGIS Software
C. GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM (GPS):
o Global Positioning System (GPS): principles, uses and applications.
